Hello
We had a very successful dressmaking class this morning. Everyone found Wendy's demonstration of how to alter the sleeve of a jacket very useful.
If you are interested in dressmaking but are unsure where to start, our classes are ideal for you. Wendy will help you to decide on a simple project to get started such as pyjamas or a simple skirt. She will also be able to advise which type of fabric is best for your chosen project. The class is also ideal for people who have been dressmaking for a while but would like some guidance for their chosen project. One of the girls who comes has just about finished her own coat which looks amazing!
At the beginning of every session Wendy will demonstrate a dressmaking technique. In the next session at the end of May she will be demonstrating how to insert or alter a dart. She will be bringing different fabrics to show you how much difference it will make to the shape of the garment depending on fabric. Another factor for moving/altering a dart is everyone's unique body shape, Wendy will be able to show you how to make the garment fit best for your body shape.
After the demonstration you will be able to work on your own project with Wendy's help. This could be how to read the pattern, how to start or choosing the best fabric for your chosen garment. We have patterns available here and the McCalls most recent catalogue for you to look through and order.
Each class is only £10! The next class will be on Saturday 27th May, 10:15am-12:45pm.

Product of the week
Hello
Every week we are going to have a feature product. This week the feature product is 'Soak'. Soak is ideal for washing your quilts because it has no soap in and requires no rinsing! It is very delicate on the fabric and won't cause any damage. You can also use it to wash wool.
Soak has been an absolute hit with knitters (and wearers of knitted things), but it has also drawn a following of crafters (like quilters, cross-stitchers and weavers) as well as people who hand-wash their clothes. This gentle, fiber-friendly cleanser, formulated for today's sophisticated sensibilities.
How to use:
For hand-washing, pour 1 teaspoon into one gallon of cool water. Soak item for 15 minutes then gently squeeze out water. No need to rinse. Lay knit items flat to dry. Wash sets (like lingerie) together. Some colour may bleed into the water - don?t worry; this won't harm your garment.
Test fabric for colour-fastness before washing.
Soak is also ideal for machine washing- including High Efficiency Machines. Use the delicate cycle and measure Soak based on your machine's instructions. You can either use or skip the rinse cycle, depending on what you are washing. Measure Soak by individual machine guidelines.
Our general rule is one capful (or squeeze) on the 14oz bottle or two capfuls on the 4oz bottle for a gallon (sink full) of water. Make sure there's enough room for water to move around and cover the garment while it Soaks.
No rinse means that the product is a low-suds liquid. When you soak your items, the dirt and detergent comes out in the water and what is left in the item evaporates. When you squeeze out the water, you are left with a hint of fragrance that dissipates over time. You can rinse if you want. Rinsing does not affect how Soak cleans. It just removes the fragrance.
No rinse means less agitation for fibers. It is easier on garments and makes them last longer. It also uses less water which is good for the planet.
We have different sizes available
1 use 6ml sachet £1.39
130ml £10.99
425ml £16.99.
Follow the link below to purchase from our website or pop in store.
