Classes in May & June

Hello

This is our class list for the next couple of months, We have added a few extra classes in.
Our classes are held in our large studio attached to our shop. Most of the classes are taught by Kim who is part of the Sixpenny Memories team that some of you may have seen on the TV craft channel Hochanda. Kim has taught all over the UK and loves passing her expert knowledge of patchwork onto others. We keep our costs down to make sure that everyone is able to come along. We have disabled access, toilet facilities and lots of free parking outside of the shop. (Terms, conditions and exclusions apply, loyalty card is 1 point per £20 spend).

Friday 19th May

Garment Carrier 10:15am-2:30pm

Make a stylish garment carrier using only 1 layer cake. £17.

Beginners Overlocker 1:15pm-3pm

If you have an Overlocker and don't know where to start this is an ideal class for you. You will learn threading, maintaining and learn some of the useful functions of the Overlocker. Only £10.

Saturday 20th May

Tuesday 23rd May 
Pleated pineapple cushion 10:15am-2:30pm
Pleated Patchwork gives dimension to quilting and it was made popular by the Victorians.
In the session we will explore the technique incorporating it into a cushion or you could make more and make a quilt. Cost £17.

Friday 26th May

Get to Know Your Sewing Machine

If you want to get the most out of your machine, learn new techniques, discover what the feet can do and more then this is the perfect class, one of our most popular. Cost £17.

Saturday 27th May

Dressmaking 10:15am-12:45pm

Learn how to dressmake with our new teacher Wendy who has over 30 years experience. In each session you will learn a dressmaking technique and then get the chance to work on your own project. This months technique will be how to insert or alter a dart. All of this for only £10.

Friday 2nd June

Patchwork and Quilting techniques 10:15am-2:30pm
Tackling Broderie Perse in this session. Whilst it is french for Persian embroidery it is actually applique.
Simple fun and ideal for beginners.
Cost £17.

Friday 9th June

String Along A Star cushion 10:15am-2:30pm
Learn how to do String Piecing whilst making this delightful Star Cushion.
A great way to use up your scraps.
Suitable for a beginner. Finished Size 15 x 15 inch.
Cost £17 includes pattern.

Learn how to make the most out of your sewing machine 

Smocking with the Sewinv Machine 1:15pm-3:15pm

In this Class we will be exploring Sewing Machine Smocking.
This is a great technique which can be incorporated into Dressmaking, Home Decor etc.
Cost £15 includes information sheet.

Saturday 24th June

Discover Hand Quilting 10:15am-2:30pm
Quilting by hand is a traditional pastime particularly in the North East. During the class you will be shown how to draft a pattern to the fabric, how to make a pattern fit to your project, how to hoop up the fabric and how to hand quilt. We will also discuss what needles and threads to use.

Included in the class will be an instructional leaflet which includes hints tips and a quilting template for you to take home. Suitable for beginners.
