All about us!

Hello,

For those of you who are new to The Fat Quarters I just wanted to tell you about about us and what we do.

We are small business about 10 miles outside of Newcastle Upon Tyne City centre. We are a patchwork and quilting shop who have been here for about 14 years. We have a large shop and a separate studio area for our classes. We stock lots of fabrics from Moda, Red Rooster, Thimbeleberries, Makower, Amy Butler, Andover, Dashwood, Lecien, Robert Kaufman and many more! We have 45" wide fabrics and also have extra wide fabrics which range from 110"-120" wide. We stock different types of waddings such a polyester, cotton and cotton/bamboo blend. We also sell a variety of Vliseline Interfacings. We have Moda Bakery with new styles coming in every month. We have books including Tilda, Amy Butler and Six Penny Memories. We also have a great selection of magazines such as 'SEW' magazine, Homespun and quilt mania. In the back section of the shop we have notions (needles, rotary cutters, rulers, scissors etc) as well as buttons, threads (including Aurifil), ribbons and bag making accesories. We have wool felt in a variety of colours, Soak for washing quilts and lots and lots of patterns for you to browse through and choose your next project.

We are open Tuesday- Saturday, 10am-4pm. CLOSED Sunday and Monday. Our website is always open when we aren't for you to browse and treat yourself to some new fabrics.

We run classes and workshops throughout the week for you to get on with work, learn new things and  try new skills. We have workshops where you can come along and work on your own project. Everyone is making their own project and it's a great chance to chat and get some new ideas. We have the following times available
Tuesday- 10:15am-12:45pm £6.50 10:15am-3pm £9.50.
Wednesday- 10:15am-12:45pm £6.50
Friday- 10:15am-12:45pm £6.50 10:15am-3pm £9.50
Saturday- 10:15am-12:45pm £6.50

We also have specific classes that change monthly. The classes range from Get to Know Your Sewing Machine, cushions, quilts and more! The classes start at £10. The full list of our current classes are available on our website.

When you come to a workshop or class you will get 10% off when you spend under £20 and 15% when you spend over £20. (The discount excludes fabric, FatPacks and panels as they are currently in the sale).

We also offer a long arm quilting service if you would like to have your quilt top turned into a quilt professionally. The price for this depends on the quilt size. Please call us on 01207 565728 for more information.
